Randolph Matthews
Randolph Matthews is a vocalist, performer, multidisciplinary artist, and voice movement therapist known for his powerful, transformative approach to voice movement and creativity. With over two decades of experience captivating international audiences, Randolph’s live performances are a testament to the limitless potential of the human voice. He has shared the stage with iconic names such as Herbie Hancock, Mulatu Astatke, Richard Bona,, and and earned accolades including a Best Live Performance nomination at the 2018 Jazz FM Awards and Best Band at Jazz Ascona 2019.
Randolph’s journey began at Goldsmiths College London, in 1993 where he studied voice repertoire, blending the Alexander Technique with vocal mechanics. His pursuit of deeper connections between voice and movement led him to Boston, where he trained in Voice Movement Therapy inspired by the work of pioneer Paul Newham. This fusion of technique and instinct underpins his work as both an artist and educator.
Rooted in his African diaspora heritage, Randolph taps into an intangible wisdom that transcends traditional teaching. This connection to his roots creates a space of warmth, trust, and freedom, where participants are invited to explore their voices fully. His workshops, facilitated across the globe, are designed for diverse groups, and Randolph has worked with brands and organisations to create expressive spaces that foster creativity and authentic expression.
Beyond his performances, Randolph is a passionate advocate for artists, creativity, and personal branding, helping others develop their unique voices both artistically and professionally. His mission is to empower creators, guiding them to express freely, build their personal brands, and use their voices—literally and metaphorically—to make an impact.
His live shows are more than performances; they are dynamic, fourth-wall-smashing experiences that embody the raw, instinctive energy of jazz and the art of true expression.
