Vocalpercussion - A Universal Language

The voice holds the story of who we are and how we relate to the world around us .So many times we are forced to compromise the ability to speak out to fit in. Through the means of voicing ourselves freely we can break down the rustiness preventing us moving forward and having our say in our own unique way.

Vocalpercussion centre's on the full spectrum of vocal colours where the voice finds space, shape and form to breathe creating a platform where it can be heard authentically. The vocal process can liberate the individual towards artistic insight and confidence. "Creativity and artistic endeavours have a mission that goes far beyond just making music for the sake of music. Music is the tool to express life - and all that makes a difference." Herbie Hancock

Testimonies:

Randolph is not only a multi-talented musician, but also a natural teacher and had the children in the palm of his hand from the outset, immediately engaging them in some call and response singing with one of his self-penned tunes.

His multi-cultural influences and knowledge of world music are so relevant in today's classroom: his ability to call upon musical styles from any country that the children named had our children (and adults) wide-eyed with amazement.

It was lovely to see some of our boys, who usually participate reluctantly, enthusiastically throwing themselves into the musical activities: they particularly enjoyed making their own rhythms using their names and recording them with the loop pedal.

In my opinion the cross-curricular potential of Randolph's work is far-reaching, particularly for literacy, geography and PSHE (our children were brimming with confidence afterwards) - a one hour workshop is simply not enough. Daisy Moon - Music Teacher, Kilmorie Primary School

Quotes from the School children at Kilmorie School:

I learnt that beat boxing is just like playing an instrument - Nicholas, year 5.

I liked the way he recorded different things over each other on the microphone - Tishon, year 3.

You can understand the true meaning of how music is and how music can be made using everyday things - Rashane, year 6.
